Dear participants,

I suggest we make some procedures that will wrap up each person's position.

Otherwise, it will be endless.

Maybe, I am suggesting this too early. But we need a direction.

The procedure, in my thought, may well contain the followings.

1. The simplification of the issue.

2. The distinction of each position

3. A search for common factor.

For example, I guess we could simplify the matter only concerning the problem of salvation of outsiders of Christianity. Then we could state our position with proper basis. Then we may further talk about a common factor which may exist among those opinions. And let things be wrapped up without coercing one's idea into others.

In the process, we may need a mediator.

Recently, I read from Van Til's book,"ByunJeungHak" some interesting

points.

He compares C.S.Lewis' approach with Reformational approach in apologetics.

If Lewis's approach, as in Mere Christianity, has some problem, then what is it? and What is the disadvantage?

Can it be said to be really different?

I guess Van Til's method has problem, too. It is too rigid or has few common points in approaching non-christians.

I myself will not make it clear, for I may be mistaken in presenting the case accurately.

In terms of talking about Universal Salvation, I suppose Reformational approach as in Van Til's might be more self contained and powerful.

But once we try to allow some evangelical common play grounds, it almost always happen that few people are persuaded. On the contrary, they attack us that God is not fair. For example, Lewis has used for God's existence a universal meaningfulness of right and wrong.

On the same moral basis which was used in proving the universality connected to God, they can reject God.

There are , however, some misunderstandings between these writers; we need to clarify those first.

No canonical writer has ever tried to prove God, says Pascal.

Instead, they take it granted that God is acting in history.

Conclusively, it seems that whenever we try to persuade other people they blame us that God is unfair. SO I think it will be more 'persuading' to present God as it is and to pray their minds will be exposed to the reality.

I hope somebody will explain about this more.

The method here is 'GuiRyuBup' ( reductio ad absurdum).

Suppose that God's revelation is not confined in space-time structure.
Suppose that all nations are informed of God's characters explicitly.
Suppose that all people are told about Christ's substitutional death without physical
contact with other Christians.
Then what contradictions or nonsense could be obtained?

There are a lot of dilemmas here. (Anyone could add to this list)
First of all, there is no need of evangelization. But he wants us to go for mission.
Why? Maybe his another big aim for us is for us to realize God's image which is
plunging into another world. If, after saving us, he does not allow us to have such
substantial part of realizing God's image, his purpose of salvation would be crippled.
Secondly, if God has to become a human being, this means that his self-revelation
has a lot of significance of meaning in not only becoming a human but also revealing
himself through spoken human words from that human being. Could we separate
the fact that God was a human and the fact that He lived with us and taught to us?
If we cannot, his final ultimate revelation, Jesus, must exist at every generation in
every place, provided that God wants to save every single individual.
If he has to allow several Saviors, then this could also mean that his so called 'final'
revelation was not perfect. Another alternative is that God has to give some kind of
weaker form of revelation or imperfect revelation to every people. But this is also
ridiculous. How we sinners could reach to His presence with imperfect revelation
considering his majesty and the gravity of our sins. How could God achieve his supreme
Glory, his Goal in Creation, doing like this? Imperfect revelation would mean a blasphemy to
Himself. We would never know how holy God is and how sinful we are.

Therefore our proposition must be false.
As though the destruction of all mankind out of Gospel is horrible, we have no choice
but to consider all of them lost.
